Irene Weingartner

Born in 1971 in Nottwil, Switzerland, lives and works in Zurich and Düsseldorf.
Irene Weingartner developed a technique which enables her, not to draw what is in her imagination or in front of her eyes, but what may be unseen, hidden or underneath the surface. With her technique, she produces various series, which are called Seismographic Recordings originated from the body, Recording possible Landscape and so for. Therefore she is recording signals.
To do her recordings, Weingartner is developing different systems. Those she uses to find the accurate attitude before she starts the recording process. Depending on the approach, the attitude and posture are changing through calibrating her body. This process is influencing the quality of the applied lines on paper and the rhythm is forming the relations between the lines. Through this practice, fragile and energetic works come into being. Structures arise in the way, that one could be reminded of architectural constructions.
On the bases of these recordings, Irene Weingartner is evolving new techniques with doing transparency-paper-cut-outs and building architectural-like models.
She sometimes collaborates with scientists from different fields to question and discuss the topic of imaging method. Irene Weingartner studied fine Art in Lucerne and Berlin and completed her studies with a Master in fine Art at Chelsea College of Art and Design in London.
Her works are exhibited internationally.
